Keith has pursued his love of the stage and concert performance nationally and in many Philadelphia-local professional venues including Bristol Riverside Theatre, Act II Playhouse, The Prince Music Theatre, Hedgerow Theatre, and The Broadway Theatre of Pitman. National tour highlights include the Broadway Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Music of the Night with Betty Buckley and Melissa Manchester. Favorite roles include Coalhouse Walker, Jr. (Ragtime); Joe (Show Boat); The Abolitionist (For the Glory: The Civil War Musical); Leading Player (Pippin); Sky Masterson (Guys and Dolls); Billy (Carousel) and Audrey II (The Little Shop of Horrors).
Outside the theatrical stage, Mr. Spencer has had the honor of singing concert stage backing vocals for artists such as Roberta Flack, Rosemary Clooney, and Sandi Patty. He appeared opposite Billboard Top 100 artist, Doreen Taylor, in An Enchanted Evening – A Night with Oscar Hammerstein II which debuted in Philadelphia to critically-rave reviews. Keith was also selected as featured concert soloist for Paul Robeson’s 120th Birthday Celebration hosted by the Paul Robeson House of Princeton.
Recently, Keith launched a trio of concerts focusing on the African-American experience:
- We Shall Not Be Moved – Songs & Speeches from the Civil Rights Movement
- The Robeson Songbook – A Negro Spiritual & Gospel Celebration of the Music of Paul Robeson, and
- Brothers on Broadway – A Celebration of Broadway’s African-American Leading Men.
Performances have received rave reviews from audiences of every color and demographic. Keith had the opportunity to present selections from each concert on WRTI 90.1FM Philadelphia as part of their LIVE In-Studio Performance Series.
